Claude Artifacts
An Artifact is an output intended to be viewed, revised, shared or reused as an object beyond one chat reply.
#Suitable outputs
Documents, code tools, single-page HTML, SVG/diagrams and supported interactive prototypes may benefit from a separate artifact surface. The important distinction is independent reuse, not length.
#Workflow value
Artifacts can make maintenance, sharing and further edits more direct. A short explanation or isolated suggestion may still fit ordinary chat better.
#Build deliberately
- Define the output type.
- Specify inputs, states and boundaries.
- Produce a small usable result.
- Add interaction and visual refinement in reviewable rounds.
Avoid asking for an oversized application without data boundaries or assuming a preview is automatically production-ready. Decide how the result will be maintained after the conversation.
