Image Generation Workflow
Establish a direction before trying to lock every detail. The same process applies when moving from a legacy DALL·E workflow to a supported GPT Image model.
#Generation sequence
- Define the image's use.
- Describe the subject, setting and required elements.
- Add style, lighting, composition and orientation.
- Compare directions and refine one.
An ecommerce product image, blog cover, advertising key visual and onboarding illustration need different subject sizes, whitespace and framing. State the use so the model does not have to average those requirements.
#Work in passes
Review composition and subject first, style/materials second, and detailed finishing or text areas third.
The source describes DALL·E 3 as a generation-only interface. A workflow requiring repeated edits needs a model and endpoint that actually support them.
#Prompt structure
textpurpose + subject + setting + style + lighting + composition + aspect ratio
textCreate an ecommerce product image of silver over-ear headphones. Use a minimal white background and soft studio lighting, with a premium technology feel. Center the subject, leave copy space on the right, and compose for a portrait 4:5 crop.
#First review
Check that the subject is clear, the orientation fits, copy space is available and the style has not drifted. Early rejection of an unusable composition saves later retouching.
