Led by JR Academy founder Lightman Wang, this open class explains why “AI Engineer” is one of the most in-demand technical roles in the next three years and what skills companies actually expect beyond just React and Node.js knowledge. Over the past few years, many students have completed full stack courses and learned technologies such as React, Node.js, and MongoDB. However, when the AI wave truly arrived, they realised they could still only build standard web applications, not real AI-powered products. This workshop is created to bridge exactly that gap – the gap between “being able to use AI” and “being able to build and ship AI systems”. During the session, you will experience project-driven learning instead of the traditional “learn theory first, do a project later” approach. The instructor will start from a real AI project and walk you through the entire journey of building an AI system from scratch. You will see how to design the front end with React / Next.js, build backend services with Node.js / Express, integrate AI modules such as OpenAI API, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and Prompt Engineering, and finally deploy everything to the cloud using Docker, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines. The open class also focuses on mindset and engineering practices: learning how to grow “inside a project”, how to debug and deploy by yourself, and how to turn AI features into usable, reliable products instead of one-off demos.
