Outline to Draft with ChatGPT
Generating a whole article at once can produce an apparently complete draft with an unclear argument and scattered detail. Confirm the outline before expanding individual sections.
#Why the outline matters
The outline establishes which problem the article solves. Without that decision, the title and body may diverge, reasonable individual paragraphs may fail to form an argument, and the central point may drift as the draft grows.
#A practical writing sequence
- Define the audience and purpose.
- Request two or three alternative outlines.
- Select the most suitable direction.
- Correct the section order manually.
- Expand one section at a time.
- Align tone and terminology at the end.
Generating an outline and approving it are separate decisions.
#Why section-by-section expansion helps
A single full-draft request can produce inconsistent style, allow one off-topic section to affect the whole article, and make it harder to correct the emphasis partway through.
#Expand in two passes
First, write the argument and important examples for each section without polishing the sentences. Once that structure is sound, improve transitions, rhythm, tone and headings.
