Runway Output Specs
Choose the platform, duration, format and text-safe areas before generating.
#Destination ratios
Use 9:16 for vertical short-video placements, 16:9 for landscape video/presentations/site heroes, and square where a feed or advertisement calls for it.
Three- to five-second clips suit concept and hook tests. Longer promotions are easier to control as separate shots rather than one continuous generation.
#Model limits are version-specific
The Chinese source records March 2026 duration figures for Gen-4 Turbo and Gen-4. Confirm the actual model's current limit in the interface/documentation; do not infer that a duration mentioned in a tutorial is available in every tool or account. For longer pieces, storyboard, generate segments and assemble them in an editor.
#Keep useful masters
MP4 is a common distribution format. Keep a high-quality clean master and, where relevant, captioned and uncaptioned versions for later editing.
#Plan audio too
Decide whether the output includes audio, whether it will be replaced later and whether lip synchronization is required. Sound can change the pacing requirements of an otherwise approved shot.
#Safe areas and export checks
Reserve top/bottom interface space, caption/action areas and the subject's central safe region. Check ratio, duration, readable text, clarity and filenames that identify purpose and version.
